Hows about all deleted ideas (deleted on the grounds of the oft quoted rules) are stored in some kind of archive to prevent new bakers being told "We've had this idea before and it got deleted" . Any new idea could be checked against existing ideas, and if not found, could then be checked against a list
of deleted ideas to see if their idea had been suggested before and then deleted!
Even if just the title could be stored, it would be sooo helpful and save alot of time especially with things like the paper football shirt which i have seen (in my short time) reappear once or twice!

The AutoBoner strikes Again!!!!! |

We've had this idea before and it didn't get deleted. Please search before posting. |

Hehe. Yes, obviously you wouldn't use it anyway, if you don't even check against existing ideas. |
Tip o' the hat for getting the category right, though. |

Mike, you don't seem to be getting the hang of this idea thing. Your profile page smells like a fishmarket. If you'd like a few pointers to get you going in the right direction, click my name below and follow the links you see. No charge. |

I searched for the word archive and found nothing the same!!! Perhaps there are similar ideas (ie those containing the word 'Archive') but i don't see any that are the same (possibly a flaw in the search engine???) |

//Mike, you don't seem to be getting the hang of this idea thing. Your profile page smells like a fishmarket//????? |

//Don't sweat the 'bones, they are nowhere near as important as the annotations. |

//You're trying, and you're searching - and that's what counts more than votes or comments. |
Perhaps it is you who is missing the point? |
//Don't sweat the 'bones//
Yup, I said that, and it's true. But the second clause, regarding the importance of the annotations is also worth digesting - especially in the light negative thrust of the annos herein. |
Edit: If I was me, I'd be reluctant to quote myself in support of an argument against point-missing by others as I am Baron Von Myfaceyour of Punktvermissen. |
The negative annotations seem to be based on this idea being baked, and this in turn seems to be down to people not reading ideas thoroughly enough! It happens all too often (in my limited experience) that people latch onto some nothing point and vote negative accordingly! I would imagine there are several negative votes that have come from people seeing the word 'Baked' and voting without looking into whether this is true or not! |
I also have noticed that people happily dish out the bones, but are much more cautious with the precious croissants! Perhaps it is that all my ideas are so detestable, but it would be nice if bones were treated as valuble as croissants, or else some weighting system be put into place (i would post this as a separate idea, but i can imagine the carnage!!!). |

//I also have noticed that people happily dish out the bones, but are much more cautious with the precious croissants//
While at the same time, there are some 'bakers who happily dish out croissants but are much more cautious with the stinking fishbones. |

Top tip: don't post anything in the halfbakery category. It is a fishbone magnet, irrespective of the (lack of) quality of the idea. |
so we store 250 ideas about messages in the back of cars and another 250 about steering wheel death spikes? etc etc we keep the one dud idea and get rid of the rest to save space. |
oh, have a bun you look hungry :) |
Maybe it is a fishbone magnet to suggest ideas for changing the bakery, but i think genuinely useful ideas can only do the bakery good, and a few bones don't put me off! I am not going to let the ignorance of others put me off posting, else i would have left a long time ago! |
If the same idea has been posted 250 times, then just one archive entry would help stop it appearing again! |
What [my_face_your] said - and
also, this idea isn't baked, it's
redundant - quite
different. Another tip: nearly
half the annotations on this idea
are from you: people react badly
to that - it looks like someone
being over-defensive. |
Because in this category there are
several ideas very similar to
this. Some of these are pretty
old and none of them have been
implemented. This probably
indicates that
the creator of the HalfBakery isn't
interested this sort of feature and
that it's pointless asking for it
again. |

The halfbakery *is* the archive |
NO! The Halfbakery IS NOT the archive!
I found some high bone content ideas of mine that have been restored by miracle after the great crash, with extremely informative annotations. I want to delete these ideas, but be able to get to them from the depths of history.
If storage cost is a problem, I'de even be willing to pay! |
May I be as forward as to suggest that you save them on your own
disk to admire at your leisure? |
