Apartments, as seen on TV

Rent apartments styled after television shows

so I am shopping for apartments and all the styles that differnt offerings include are named like "The Ambassador", or "The Wilson". that's so dumb. I want to get an apartment that looks like Jerry Seinfelds! Why don't apartment builders style thier offerings after diggs on famous shows. Apartment styles could be called, "The Seinfeld", or "The Fraiser"..Or "The Ally Mcbeal" etc.... You get the picture.

Would they have one open side and be configured at weird angles to give the best camera shots?
RayfordSteele, Jun 27 2002

Do they include the "missing fourth wall" where the camrea dollies trundle back and to ? Is there an audience ? Do you get canned laughter ? Dozens of huge lights in the ceiling ?

We don't mean to mock. It's not that bad an idea actually.

8th, this could be a great apartment version of the Film Noir house. The SitCom apartment.
RayfordSteele, Jun 27 2002

but why stop at apartments? Real estate agents *should* compare homes for sale to well-known pop culture homes so that buyers reading the ads have a feel for the place before going to see it. Croissant for the idea, btw.

I want one of those spacious loft apartments in New York of the type the low income people in the movies seem to be able to afford.
st3f, Jun 27 2002

       "Welcome to Stepford ....."

Runforrestrun: Yes, but what if your favourite TV show is "The Simpsons" ?
8th of 7, Jun 27 2002

       Reverse-baked: "The Prisoner."

Actually, I'd love a flat styled on the home of "Mr Don and Mr George" (single series UK sitcom from mid-90s) complete with boxing ring, cornflakes-box office and "No Wasps" sign. Croissant.

This is a great idea - you could extend it to films as well. I wouldn't mind Scarface's place.

//Runforrestrun: Yes, but what if your favourite TV show is "The Simpsons" ?//

actually, I was thinking more along the lines of Dynasty, Dallas, and Falcon Crest....

I've only ever seen one episode of the Simpsons <<<<<collective gasp heard in the room>>>>>
runforrestrun, Jun 27 2002

me too runfy. the x-files one.
po, Jun 27 2002

I saw the one where Lisa "created Lutherans" in a jar....don't actually think I saw the whole thing...but I remember that line

Can we put a downpayment on Eldon Tyrell's apartment from "Blade Runner" ? Including the owl, please.
8th of 7, Jun 27 2002

Baked. Every new estate in England in based on Brookside.
deeman, Jun 28 2002

My apartment is more the size of those pods that the real-world humans in The Matrix are sealed in. Dirt cheap rent, though.
jester, Jun 28 2002

I want "The Munster". I've always wanted "The Munster". I'd even pay extra for the cobwebs.
1percent, Jun 28 2002

I'll take Anderton's apartment in "Minority Report". Cleaned up a bit, of course.

Pee-Wee's, yes, bliss, great idea. Only if it comes with Conky, though. "The Conk...Ky...TTTwo Thousand... ready ready ready totototo...assssssist.. youououu..."
waugsqueke, Jun 28 2002

I want Angel's mansion from Season 3 of Buffy. (No relation, by the way.)
angel, Jun 28 2002

I can't believe that no-one wants the bat-cave...or would that be "The Batman", right next door to the "Bruce Wayne" - I'll have them anyway

It is a good idea - without getting caught up in the dreams of having a crazy celebrity home I shall give you pastry...

You could extend the idea onto cars and other vehicles.

Instead of stupid names like 'avensis' and 'corsa' we could have 'A-Team van' and the 'Penelope Pitstop'
Jinbish, Jun 28 2002

       Dibs on Graceland.
drew, Jun 28 2002

I'll occasionally see, on the streets in my city, the green Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo. The driver sports a scraggly goatee and wears oversized green T-shirts. The van is all decked out like the original - way cool.
Matty, Jun 28 2002

Cool. How about the "Three's Company Condo"?
bspollard, Dec 13 2002

Meanwhile companies have been spending millions to get popular culture icons to drive their cars on TV. Talking bout commercials here folks - I think you've all just come out with a new and radical advertisement concept..... just like 'The Truman Show'. <p> I would buy a seinfeld apt, the batmobile, and air jordan shoes... err.... well just until i found out how much my celebs got paid for endorsements....
