Animal outsmart
Teach animals to spread the word. Category:Animal psychology | |
A change in direction. From a headlong culture clash to a Win
Win situation.
Instead of killing Myna birds or shooting the migrating birds
away from the fish ponds, or using insecticide and poisonless
ant traps, and hunt down snakes and sharks to extinction,
let's
change our efforts, and
get the animal world of the wild to
cooperate.
Ants will learn to communicate with humans and then can
negotiate terms of what is acceptable (living in the garden)
and
what is not (living in the kitchen). If for some reason they
make
a mistake and invade your living room, you call the queen and
within a short while the ants are called back. You get an SMS
with instructions where to drop the breadcrumbs and all is
well
that ends well.
It turns out Myna birds are quite intelligent. After we learn to
communicate with them we have a few talks with them
showing
them what civil behavior in nature is, and letting them see
the
broader perspective of nature. They stop attacking other
birds,
and change their attitude. They join the stirlings instead of
bashing into their flocking flight and knocking them out of the
sky.
Next we turn to all the animal poachers and land developers
and learn to communicate with them too. [Trainging them to
become attending... Edit:] training them to become attentive
to nature and to become thoughtful and
cooperative, we get them to communicate with the animals
around the building site, and to discover that the animals can
provide ingenious solutions for synergy and coexistance.

So vast data sets on the target species and an AI algorithm, quite a few generations into the future, set to find communication queues and triggers for anthropomorphic mapping? |
|
|
Anyway, there's a largely separate project here for each species.
Regarding ants it's quite realistic, I suspect, to propose
identifying a scent which means to them "don't come this way".
I'd be surprised if someone were not already working on it. On
the other hand, the proposed hotline to the queen is probably not
realistic, because, I suspect, it over-estimates how much
ideation goes on in any single member of a hive mind, even the
queen. |

Ants - 250,000 neurons (ball park) and associated synapses, I am guessing, but enough for a bit more than yay or nay chemical communication. It would be interesting to know if the neurochemistry allows for emotional states like 'I know I have to but I am tired' or 'I am up for it, can't wait'. |

Bees look to be another level, though. |

How are you going to upgrade politicians to be as smart as ants ? There are things that grow under the rim of toilet bowls that are smarter than the vast majority of politicians. |

Trainging is a good word. |

When we hold all of the advanced weaponry, how
will this avoid becoming similar to the 19th century
Native territory treaties? |
|
|
Given that we hold all the advanced weaponry (and are, in
general, markedly unsympathetic to ants in our kitchens),
wouldn't that be better than no treaties at all? |
|
|
The treaty of Waitangi, for example, undoubtedly helped to
keep the Maori people in a better position than, say, the
Ligurians. "Who are the Ligurians?", you ask. Well, that
rather proves my point. |

I wonder what the scale, colouring (maybe shininess), 3D shadow structure a letter would have to have such that ants could sense visually? and therefore be used as a behaviour mark. |
