Surname succession is mainly patrilineal in many countries, which seems a bit unfair.
Idea: when a child is to be named, take alternate letters from each parent's surname, and rearrange to form a new surname.
This will serve to remind them that just as their name is a combination of their parents',
so also are their genes.
Mr Jones and Ms Smith might therefore beget a Ms Tome; Mrs Bloggs and Mr Public might have a Mr Bob-pig.
