Ammo Belt

Belt fires projectiles from the hip

This belt wraps around your waist through modified belt loops. A recoiling strand of string attached to the loop adjacent the first loop at the front of the pants, pulls the belt back for a second shot. The belt is a long catapult sling that holds a weighted ball. Rapidly pulling the belt through the loops that are modified with roller bearings slings the ball. The direction of the ball is determined by the motion of your hand. New balls are easily inserted as the recoiling string rewinds the belt. The recoiling motor has a long flexible spring to allow the cast string to be drawn.

Hang on - this is a proposal for an armed rubbish bin??
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 03 2016

No, unless your bin wears pants or has belt loops.

Then why do I want to put a belt around my waste?
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 03 2016

Well technically the belt is very close to being around the waste when around the waist.

I am leery of any long elastic strings holding weighted balls that are moored over my fly. The boys are peaceable down there. Buddhists, maybe. They want the fighting tech to stay at the ends of the extremities.

Is the belt a double thickness, with the projectile nestling at the point where it's folded over, or is it a single thickness, with a sort of pouch at the end?

Is this meant to be based on centrifugal force, like a David-and-Goliath sling, or on elastic potential energy, like a schoolboy's slingshot? I'm assuming the latter, but I can't help thinking it would be more effective to keep a pool ball in your pocket and just throw it at someone.
