In my experience, fast kettles are
loud and quiet kettles are slow. How
about a kettle that senses the
ambient noise in the room with a
small microphone and adjusts the
boiling speed so that the sound of
the kettle suits the time of day.
"Express boil" button is, of course, a
must.
