Add a "Add hypertext to your description" button next to the Halfbakery description entry box.
This will the allow the writer to highlight words or phrases within the description, and connect the data to a website[1] to allow faster and easier citation[2] referencing and placement by writers and
readers. Examples of hyperlinks are words in a color other than black on this Wikipedia page[3].

FARK has an allowance for such
http://www.fark.com/farq/basichtml/ I just tried to use the " <a target="_top" href="http://www.fark.com/">It's not news, it's Fark.com</a> " link insertion method in the description box but it did not work. I will tinker with the www.halfbakery.com/lr/ mode -- thanks to hippo for the info. [Sunstone, Jun 09 2017]

Actually what this place is more users with ideas to comment on. a 1x1 ad in ieee spectrum would be nifty |
Hyperlinks are a slippery slope. Because if we're going to have hyperlinks, we should definitely add latex formatting of equations, and unicode support, and inline images, and the ability to "like" things and before you know it the halfbakery will be half-facebook. |
We like it primitive here. |
<gormenghast>No change! No change!</gormenghast> |
I still want a tag. |
noooooooo!!!!!!! No fucking hashtags either. Grrrrrrrrr.
smelly bone; smelly bone; smelly bone |
[mitxela] - Facebook doesn't allow latex formatting of equations does it? That's one thing I'd love to see - there and here - and - which ought to work rather nicely in my opinion though potentially open to (albeit academically literate) abuse $$\frac{\odot \space \prec}{\overbrace{\cup}}$$ |
But do you use the www.halfbakery.com/ mode or the
www.halfbakery.com/lr/ mode? I find the latter solves
some of the presentation idiosyncrasies you allude
to. |
I like things simple like they are - the HB is uniquely simple and elegant, with the emphasis on words and ideas. |
If there were any changes, I'd vote for a few additional characters and possibly italics and superscripts, but that's it. |
...which is what you've got, if you use the /lr/ view |
//But it isn't simple.// You're probably right, and I imagine that there's a lot of complexity that goes into making the site _look_ simple. |
Yes, some things would nice (like inline linking), but it's the thin end of a slippery slope. |
...and before you know it, the entire HalfBakery will
be a massive bandwidth-chomping Flash animation that
only works on one specific release of Internet
Explorer |
Personally, I'm in favour of introducing a postal-based version of the site. |
//All of what [Max] said.//
what?! - ever? |
I would like Italics but limited to a single character per annotation. So just Italic. |
There are worse philosophies. |
No - wait! That thing I said about metallic potassium and coffee turns out not to be safe after all. Skip that one. |
Actually, one thing that would be handy, slightly archaic and perhaps easy to implement would be to number the links serially as they are posted, so that one could refer to "link 5" or whatever in an annotation. [Sunstone] has done this manually for his/her first three links. If a link was later deleted from the middle of the list, the others would retain their numbers. A new link would automatically be numbered one higher than the previous one. |
What's wrong with everyone doing it manually? |
I've tried that method on a few of my ideas, but I never
really knew if anyone liked it or not. |
This is the Halfbakery. Lack of criticism is the highest available form of praise. |
Re the latex thing, can we just ask that all the women wear that latex catsuit stuff? |
I know it's got to be uncomfortable, so maybe limit it to only while I'm reading their ideas and annos. |
Re. the original idea, I'm not sure if it's right for this place. HB, or not HB? That is the question. |
