The AdventureStik! has all your basic trap detecting and disarming needs stuck inside a 3-inch diameter 5-foot steel pole coated in kevlar. Inside the body is a sensor that checks the air for common flammable and/or poisonous gases. Should you encounter a possibly trapped chest or other suspicous object
of a vague description, simply wave the AdventureStik! over the entity in question, and a flashing red light will blink furiously if the item has the potential to kill you upon tampering with it. If you still need to interact wit the object, simply whack it with the AdventureStik! or throw the AdventureStik! at it from a safe distance to disarm the trap by setting it off. The AdventureStik! also doubles as a walking staff, and causes 2d4 bludgeoning damage.

You're going to need to elaborate on the \\a flashing red light will blink furiously if the item has the potential to kill you upon tampering with it\\ will work to avoid a magic MFD. |
|
|
I did put an MFD on it then re-read it
and
took it off again. It's a chemical sniffer
attached to a flashing red light in a
'stick'
form factor. There's more handwaving
than I would like as to just how you
calibrate the tolerances of an
instrument
that (last time I saw one) needed a
human
to interpret the display, but I'll let that
pass for now. |
|
|
Reading it a third time, there is an awful
lot of handwaving. |
|
|
"The AdventureStik! has all your basic
trap detecting and disarming needs...".
Er... no it doesn't. It has the ability to
sniff out a few commonly used
explosive components. If I rig a chest
which fires a crossbow when you open
the lid you and your stick will be going
bye-bye. |
|
|
"...throw the AdventureStik! at it from a
safe distance to disarm the trap...".
Yeah... that'd work. I'll tell the bomb
sqaud they're doing it wrong. They
should be throwing sticks at things. |

I wish people would stop obscuring
ideas with useless marketing waffle. [-] |

What? You're saying there's an idea in there? :-) |
|
|
what's a trapped chest? sounds painful |
|
|
Probably less painful than a booby-trapped chest, though [po].
(reminded of actual office accident book entry - {{shudders}}}) |

Have you ever tried to carry a 3 inch by 5 foot pole? It's too thick to comfortably grip with one hand for any length of time, and using both hands gets cumbersome quickly. (PVC pipe in said dimensions makes a handy, if slightly heavy fly-rod case, given a decent duct-tape handle.) |

|
Lol! The start of this sounded promising. Why just have a magic wand instead? |
|
|
I only have a wand of Magic Missles. I made this so I could have basic theif skills without having to multi-class. |
