Not to be a suckup, but the HB software is pretty slick. You can post anonymously, ideas are categorized and subcategorized, there is a space to add links, and esepcially neat - you can modify the additions of others or your own postings.
It is a pretty robust system, and a lot of fun, I think.
This same format could be used for other discussions. The fellow talking about his wife eating pills made me consider the many mailinglists/bulletin boards for folks battling various diseases. Many get little useful info from their doctors / caregivers and are frustrated and confused. Many patients have experience and can help others who are dealing with similar problems. Most importantly, many people develop schemes and tricks to deal with disease/and medicine related problems which could be helpful to others.
The HB format could do this. I envision each category to be a general malady: heart disease, autoimmune disease, cancer, skin parasites, etc. Within each are subdivisions: colon cancer, breast cancer, etc. You get the idea.
Other sites have tried this. They are cumbersome and lame and require pay and passwords. A medical HB site might take a year to get rolling, but could probably supports itself and at least a few moderators on (I hate to say it) tasteful popup ads for drugs.

Let me start by saying I am prejudiced in favor of the two handed scratch, aided by long fingernails. That it was the best of its day was confirmed when NASA decided to permit its use it in the Space Shuttle's main cabin. I personally feel that
the scratch should have had wider acceptance in the itch removal market, and that the medical fraternity snubbed its potential by prescribing medication too quickly. <further 3 screens of blah> However, should you insist in the application of potentially counter-irritant medication on the affected area I might venture to suggest that "1 fry's" brand of liniment seems to be of apparent benefit, if not being the best in the market taking into account its cost effectiveness. __it2n, Jan 07 2002 |

I remember, some years back, when junior complained of something of this sort. I sent my man out for the doctor, but he had gone shooting with the Blurney's. Well, I had a standing invitation to go down there for something of that sort and that very weekend, over a half-scotch, with the native bearers standing around, I put the subject to him.
