The youth of my generation were blessed with analog record
players that were great for the ultra-slow effect of playing
LP's on the wrong speed; Hello Muddah Hello Faddah! on a 45
rpm LP sounds particularly pitiful when played at 33 or slower.
CD and MP3 players need an electronic version of
this feature
added back in for the shear joy of hearing Elvis done in
chipmunk-style, and the Chipmunks singing in ultrasonic
tones.

CD Player with speed control
http://www.pioneerd...px?product=CDJ-2000 You don't need to spend the $2000.00 this one costs to do this, though. Change the speed from 0% to 200%. Pitch control optional. [Cedar Park, Jul 23 2010]

Should also include playing backwards [link]. I found this most amusing one day when I put an extra twist in my dad's rubber-belt-drive turntable. + |

Most any DJ CD player can do this for you. <link> |

Tactile 12000 can do this in realtime, or any audio software with timestretch. I highly recommend "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails on 45 |

I once listened to the entire Pink Floyd double album Ummagumma at 16 rpm (what ever actually used that speed?). There were a group of us. We were in a squalid flat in London. The air was filled with illegal fumes. |

You could just run away from the CD player very quickly. |
