6 Degrees of Halfbakery

This a game, to be played on the Halfbakery.

All versions use 1-infinite players and 1 adjudicator (who may be a player).

Ideas can be connected by links only. Go from one idea to another, to another, and to another for as long as possible. You cannot go through links of your own. You may go through an idea again, but not through two ideas in a row twice (You can go ABCDBE, but not ABCDBCE).

Game Version 1:

Game: Try and find chains of ideas.

Scoring: 5 points for each idea you pass through. Points from 1-5 (judged by adjudicator) for difference between starting and ending ideas. Extra points for if you did anything interesting along the way (write a particularly splendid annotation, cross back over a previous idea from and to different ones, go through your own idea etc.). Needless to say, the scores are normalised onto a scale of -2.5 to 2.5 which is represented using croissants and fishbones.

Game Version 2:

Game: The adjudicator makes a challenge involving 2 ideas. Examples are "Get from A to B in as many ideas as possible", "Find as many roots as you can to get from A to B", "Get from A to B in a route of which all ideas must include the letter 's' in the title" and many more.

Scoring: Each person starts with 200 points. The judge will add or take away points as appropriate. Needless to say, the scores are normalised onto a scale of -2.5 to 2.5 which is represented using croissants and fishbones.

Game Version 3:

Game: The adjudicator makes a challenge, similar to Version 2 except that it does not have to make sense. Examples are "Get from A to B in the time I can submerge my head underwater", "Get from A to B such that the first letters of each idea, when stuck together in order, produce a word I find funny", "Qwf A vvv B adoi fjeuuc sjdelz mowue" and many more. The adjudicator can also make up extra rules (or remove them) on a whim. Sie does not have to tell anyone about this.

Scoring: The adjudicator looks at the results and awards points at random, with no connection to the results. Needless to say, the scores are normalised onto a scale of -2.5 to 2.5 which is represented using croissants and fishbones.

There are many other variants on this principle, which I'm sure you will quickly find.

Enjoy!

This sounds like my usual halfbaking day. And given this economy, many of my still-currently-working days.

I've spent an hour reading on abandoned airfields through a link I found while looking for a picture of the Hindenburg to link to in another idea, and now I'm back here again.
