Gustaf was an engineer who mused to his
nautically enthusiastic friend one day:
"Dogs are great swimmers, so why not
make an outboard engine based on one
for a boat?" "I
don't think it would be very efficient'
retorted Stefan -
"Who cares about that - be just as good
as
that stupid
Traction Iron you last showed
me, that flattened my best cuff links -
Besides, just think how much fun we can
have building it and watching it race
along
behind the boat, with its churning legs
and head and tail sticking out of the
water."
"Here - take a look. I've done a wee
scribble of it in my note book"

Looks like it'll run a bit ruf. |

I'm a little surprised that no-one felt
compelled to give the dog a bone yet.
Come out, come out where ever you are
auto-boner, your dinner is on the plate. |

Isn't that a 4-stroke? I'll have one with Chesapeakes, thanks! |

And the cooling system for this engine would work by panting? |
|
|
I like the drawing, but I have a few quibbles. The motor could be concealed in the dog's body, to enhance the illusion. The air intake could be in the dog's mouth and nose, and the exhaust gasses could go out a vent under the dog's tail. I can't figure out where to bring in the water for cooling the motor, but the outlet for the hot water should pee obvious. |

One biscuit for you.+ I do like baconbrain's adaptation.
That is more of what I expected to see, a whole dog as a motor. |

Baconbrains varaition and Normzones'
panting suggestion are all appreciated. My
first thoughts were that the dog would
replace the propeller on a "Seagull" type
outboard engine, so it wouldn't have to
contain the actual motor within its body,
and all the problems which that would
present. Will put up link to Seagull engine
if I can find. |

But those motors look nothing like seagulls... |

....it's meant to be 2stroke of course..... would you like me to change it? - I'll do it anyway. |
