Sound generators in the ball and bat would make the otherwise, we'll call it, "relaxing" sport of baseball sound like a warzone, complete with cannons and artillary shells screaming through the air, doppler effect and all.
Sensors in the ball would make exploding sounds when it hit the ground or got caught too.
Would work for cricket as well.-- doctorremulac3, Aug 27 2022 The number of screaming baseballs on the web makes me wonder why nobody thought to make them actually scream before. https://www.istockp.../screaming-baseball [doctorremulac3, Aug 28 2022] Screaming baseball, but not like this. https://www.youtube...watch?v=hV6PwJ4ZhZgI'm thinking more like the below link though. Screaming like a person woudl be kind of annoying. [doctorremulac3, Aug 28 2022] Like this.. https://www.youtube...watch?v=3h9HuKvT0QEMake it sound like incoming (or outgoing) artillary rounds. [doctorremulac3, Aug 28 2022] It's a great idea Doc, but I have a feeling it may be floating around in the hb vaults already - nevertheless have this morsel +-- xenzag, Aug 27 2022 Know what xeny? I think you're probably right. I checked and found a "mics in football uniforms" idea which was similar, but this seems a little more practical.
And thank you for the bun. (check's in the mail)-- doctorremulac3, Aug 27 2022 The ball needs an actual mouth somehow.-- RayfordSteele, Aug 27 2022 //for cricket as well//
Synthetic chirping, as the ball is slowly retrieved from the deep outfield.-- pertinax, Aug 28 2022 //The ball needs an actual mouth somehow.//
Absolutely. (linky)-- doctorremulac3, Aug 28 2022 I was thinking of exactly the cartoon version.-- RayfordSteele, Aug 28 2022 Crouching Back Catcher, Hidden Umpire.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Aug 29 2022 random, halfbakery
