Control your Heli-Mower as it floats effortlessly around your garden doing the job you hate (ok, the job I Hate!) No tail fin needed as the counter spin created by the rotation of the blades is of no concern as stabilisation is not an issue for this un-piloted craft. The wires at the bottom of the mower spin as a strimmer works cutting the grass whilst the protective trim around the bottom of the Heli-mower protects both the wires and anyones legs should they get too close. If you are feeling particularly mischevious you could also buy the MK II version which is 5 times the size, and suitable for larger lawns, and the creation of crop circles, whilst the MK III comes as a medium build with flashing lights to convince those UFO seekers that we really are out there.... (did I say We? I meant Them!) Please also see link for why a Remote Control helicopter is NOT suitable for this task, (more amusing if you understand basic German...)-- The_Englishman_Abroad, Aug 12 2006 RC Heli-Mower Pic http://theenglishma....com/photos/album/1Better than my last effort...... End of story.
If you used the floating mower in the linky you're already practically done. Just stablize the mower for hands free operation, add a remote, increase power to hold stablization equipment, add an emergency shut off switch, install some headlights for night mowing, include a turbo boost for when it gets bogged down (see story above), enable with wifi, bluetooth, and gps for when your neighbor "borrows" it, have optional edge trimmers, and paint with flames on the side. Done. Easy as that.-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Aug 12 2006 It might not be visible from my badly drawn pic, but this is a flying mower, it should be capable of flying around your garden, over fences, into other gardens and generally causing lawn havoc (if you are that way inclined of course!) I like the flames down the side though... Nice!-- The_Englishman_Abroad, Aug 12 2006 In counter-rotating blade set-ups do the blades have to weigh the same to work or do you adjust speed of one of the blades to make up for weight difference? To keep the whole thing in neutral spin, I mean.-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Aug 13 2006 Despite my concerns for public safety, I give this my vote. Anything to make lawn mowing a bit entertaining or automated. I remember some of the things I tried with our self-propelling lawn mower when I was a lad...-- lingamish, Aug 13 2006 [BB]- Now that's what I call a flying mower.-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Aug 14 2006 //No tail fin needed as the counter spin created by the rotation of the blades is of no concern as stabilisation is not an issue for this un-piloted craft.//
You need some sort of stabilisation, otherwise, you'll never be able to steer this thing - especially when it's grinding down on some particularly tough grass and you don't want it veering off into your prize nasturtiums.-- zen_tom, Aug 14 2006 [ntss]: You __SO__ forgot rfid! I don't know... might throw off the balance causing destruction and mayhem, especially if Jimmy is involved. On second thought, let's do it!-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Aug 14 2006 random, halfbakery
