The Nu-Alexandrian Library is a public lending library that is self-funded.
Funding comes from three sources, one is the cafe which sells coffees and scroll foods, which are flat bread with a filling, rolled up and made to look vaguely like scrolls.
The other income stream is from the Nu-Alexandrian Library clock, which is mechanical clock shaped like the Alexandrian Library. When a coin in dropped into the slot, smoke appears to come from it and little librarians scurry out with scrolls.
Thirdly, a gift shop, which a selection of lighters, boxes of matches, incense sticks and disposable barbecues emblazoned with the slogan "That Alexandrian library, it's so hot!" and other borderline amusing sayings.-- not_morrison_rm, Apr 01 2013 There's probably an app for that.-- RayfordSteele, Apr 02 2013 Egads...how did you get wind of that one?
Prototype app for Android role play game, either you're one of the librarians trying to save the scrolls, or one of the smokers who've run out of cigarette papers.-- not_morrison_rm, Apr 02 2013 Wonder if libraries are going to merge with museums in order to stay relevant after a generation or two into the digital age.-- RayfordSteele, Apr 02 2013 Hmm, I can now "borrow" an ebook from my local library..or would be able to if I had Kindle on my babbage engine, but have Kindle ported for it? Like hell.
How would they know they'd got the same zeros and ones back again?-- not_morrison_rm, Apr 02 2013 random, halfbakery
