Go here and be suprised

Once you have decided to go to this site and actually asserted this will on the net you will instantly be transported to a random web page. Due to the high amount of 'home made' web pages and porn on the net you are either likely to be confronted with useless crap about some guy called Richard, or some pictures of naked women enjoying some guy called Richards company. Occasionally though you may get a gem like this site. (Thank you for the spelling correction jutta, I probably wouldn't have noticed if no-one pointed it out)

Click the word "RANDOM" under "FEATURED SITES" to visit the supplies closet. They have quite a few odd websites on, and you don't have to worry about child porn. [AfroAssault, Aug 30 2001, last modified Oct 17 2004]

Whats the worst that could happen? [popbottle, Nov 18 2014]

Yes, being suprised may be nice, but where do we go when we want to be surprised?</dickhead>

I think similar things exist, and google can sure as hell be one of them. I'll check around for links....

Boned. Is it -really- necessary to tell people to discuss something, when that's the purpose of the *($&@#^ website?
-- StarChaser, Aug 30 2001

[admin: spelling "suprise" -> "surprise".]
-- jutta, Aug 30 2001

OK so maybe the idea does suck, and my spelling fluctuates for the same word, but you don't have to be mean about it.
-- kaz, Aug 31 2001

It's an unwritten rule.
If you would like to avoid being called to task - simply change the spelling.
There is even a 'random' feature within the halfbakery which was the first idea by "raisin" (who I believe bolted some time ago) - jutta turned "raisin's" idea into a reality in no time flat which came as no great s-u-r-p-r-i-s-e.

Simple typos are simply corrected. Repeat offenders get treated somewhat more harshly.

My vehemence was not aimed solely at you; I just get really tired of people in discussion areas <here, usenet, etc> posting something and ending it with 'Discuss'.

It's not a bad idea, as such; although it's already been baked. I'd forgotten about random.com, myself.

Deboned.

Best way to do this- there is a web service called TinyURL, which condenses large URLs into small TinyURLs. Here's how to exploit it- Copy "http://tinurl.com/" into your clipboard. Then type up to 4 random letters on your keyboard, and hit enter. Enjoy!
-- ortazel, Sep 01 2003

Am I supposed to paste this URL into my browser, or am I supposed to enjoy the fact that I've just pressed 4 random letters on the keyboard?
-- Cedar Park, Sep 01 2003

Most "random URL's" are boring directory lists of some form or another. E.g. if there is a web site with information about each ZIP code, then that's 99,999 so-called random pages right there. It takes a lot of arm-flailing girly-silly girls to make that many web blogs.

Eek! A bee! Get it off, get it off, get it off!

[Popbottle] the worst that could happen... would be to be redirected to the HB 'not found' page.
