curtain trousers

Have you ever reflected that a curtain resembles a pair of pants on a clothesline? Well, the designer Jean de la Ferme has, and his fall line of women’s slacks feature colorful, voluminous examples that are even tied with a bow at the knee like a drawn curtain. Also shown are long, flowery skirts with a middle vent revealing sheer fabric, to flatteringly drape your legs.

If you protest that you don’t have room in your closet for more clothes, remember, these purchases can always be hung on the curtain rod.

These curtain trousers were not designed by Jean de la Ferme. [jurist, Oct 05 2004]

These are a little too long for the decor. Can I get some capris instead?

Curtains for clothes - didn't that happen in "The Sound of Music?"

...I'm sure that in "The Sound of Music," Maria made clothes for the von Trapp children out of old curtains.

Guess we are both correct.
-- Klaatu, Apr 23 2004

You're both right, but this isn't about making clothes out of curtains, it's making clothes that resemble curtains.

I've got a pair of tan cottony polyestery pants that have subtle thin, verticle, less tan, lines running up and down them. They are like more casual Dockers that are as comfortable as sweat pants. (Though its a poor description) Women often come up to me and say, (sometimes in reverse order)"Those are great pants! Did you make them out of curtains?" When I first got them I was self-conscious and thought I was running into a lot of mean women. Now I just accept it as a compliment.
