Computer: Display Light

For lazy programmers and spods

You know how you sit down at a computer in daylight, then spend hours in front of it... then have to get up to turn the light on?
No? Just me is it?

Anyway, I have this problem occasionally. I usually notice when I've been coding using the gentle projected light from the screen, then switch to a dark display for some reason.

Well. Apart from getting up and turning the light on (yeah, right), one possibility would be to write a program which displays white in unused areas of the screen, or the borders. Perhaps configurable to do this just when a certain key is held down, or will toggle between on and off.

You have to turn the light on? (I though lazy spods ecommuted in the dark, naked.)

Qhen using Halfbakery, most of the screen is qhite. So qhat's needed is a USB enabled light sensor (costs about $1) qhich, qhen evening comes, checks if Halfbakery isn't up already, and if not turns on Halfbakery in full screen mode (F11).

Qait a minute... its so dark in here, I can't seem to find qhere the q key is... ah found it - wew.

This is a cool idea, but I also tend to use the light from my monitor to see my keyboard when I'm on late. Mmmmmm...Croissant for you....ahhhhhhhhh....

I've had F9 hotkeyed to run a program that just fills the screen with white for years. But your "empty space" thing would be much cooler. You have my +.
