mismatched shoes for sale   (+2)  [vote for, against]
A store where you can buy shoes of two different sizes

If you have both feet different sizes, you might like a shoe store where they let you buy mismatched shoes (instead of you having to make your own pair).

The store would stock different sizes of the shoe model based on statistics. When you find the show you like, they then give you a correct pair, say, 9-1/2 and 10, or 9 wide and 9-1/2.

This is cheaper than buying shoes especially made for you.

The above link is a show matching service, for those who already bought shoes.

What are the odds of finding someone who's feet are opposite of yours, who bought the same model of shoe you did, and who lives in the same town?

I say let the stores take care of it.

actually I agree with you! +1

On the shoester page I mention this very thing. Gee I wonder where you got the idea.

Now I suppose you're going to make me find the link.
-- waugsqueke, Jul 20 2003

The stores won't "take care of it" because there's no incentive for them to do so. There are plenty of shoe trading organizations available.

And if you think you have to find a perfect - but opposite - match (in the same town, no less), you're going to be the only person I've ever filtered. In the meantime, I'll presume you're joking.

None of these things are shoe trading organization. Leftover shoes for AMPUTEES is not shoetrading.

AMPUTEES need ONE shoe. Unless, they got one or more arms cut off, in which case they might need a service like mine, but for reasons other than being an amputee!

WFT? Shoester from the 19th? I was just at the shoe store today, and the lady checked my shoes to make sure they weren't mismatched!

What about small children? I have a child with hemihypertrophy (one size foot is bigger than the other) and I can't find any shoes for him. These links are no good for people like me.

perhaps shops should promote - buy a pair, get one free.
-- po, Jul 31 2003

Having been in the retail shoe business(Satan help me),I can tell you , most people have one foot bigger than the other.

Is this site dead? Oh well... with feet size 10&7 I know that very few retailers care. Shoe exchange(s) are useless and custom shoes are too expensive. Thank you for self service shoe shopping and cashiers that don't care. Wal-Mart is great. Lots of outlet malls can work. Payless sometimes. It depends on the cashier but if they catch you that won't sell them. My policy for the last 35 years of my life has been to buy one miss matched pair however I can. I refuse to by two pair. Shop during the busiest time so cashiers are rushed... :)

//If you have both feet different sizes....//

All well and good. But what if only one of your feet is a different size?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Dec 09 2007

Statistically, for a human population of 6 billion, the number of individuals with feet of size x and x+n should be balanced by others with size x + n, x.

With nothing more than basic tissue typing, cut -and-paste microsurgery, and a lifetime supply of immunosuppresant medication, the task of exchanging actual feet to give matching sizes can be quickly and painfully accomplished.
