I always get tired of waving the laser pointer before my cat gets tired of chasing it. Attach a laser pointing device to a cat collar so that it always points a few feet in front of the cat. Features: remote control blink/pattern settings. tilt sensor to turn it off if it points above horizontal (to avoid blinding humans)

Do what I do when you get bored. Run it up against something that's sitting on the ground and turn it off. The cats will think it went underneath it, and stare for hours at the spot, waiting for it to come back out.

I just saw on Straight Dope that if you die in your house and your pet can't get out of there and there's no other food, a dog will wait over a week before it starts to eat you, but a cat will get chewing after a day or two. Get a more powerful laser, I say.
