When covering items like cut pineapple or avocado, a standard 12" roll of cling wrap is way too big. We cut a 12" roll in half with a large serrated knife (time consuming and somewhat dangerous), and repair the cut sides with parts from an empty roll.
I would gladly pay more per sq ft for rolls already in a 6" format.
Here is a homemade 6" roll: https://gathman.org/photo/halfwrap.jpg-- sdgathman, Jul 27 2020 Would it be less likely to become ensnared in itself? I'd bun that.-- whatrock, Jul 27 2020 If you click where it says [link] you can post a link properly. Welcome to the HB, have a not-too-stale bun, on me.-- FlyingToaster, Jul 27 2020 You could just get double size avocados and pineapples instead.-- pocmloc, Jul 27 2020 I failed the course on plastic wrap. If you are at my house and you hear someone swearing like a sailor, that would always have to be me in the kitchen, all fumbled up in plastic and food not covered. That would be that. I love this idea.
[kdf], I dispute the WKTE. I've not seen it and I worked in a professional kitchen twice in the last few years that did not have this.-- blissmiss, Jul 27 2020 [kdf] I dispute the "exists" is the operative word claim. Everyone knows it's the "widely known to" part that is the meat of the matter, so to speak.-- blissmiss, Jul 28 2020 Alright kids... what have we learned?
Stuff exists, this is how we learn.Don't kill the messenger.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jul 28 2020 You can get those re-usable wax-impregnated fabric sheets in all sizes, works well for this kind of application and doesn't require fumbling and swearing.-- pocmloc, Jul 28 2020 //You could just get double size avocados and pineapples instead. -- pocmloc, Jul 27 2020// - but they would be double the size in all dimensions, so are they double the size of regular avocados and pineapples, or EIGHT times the size?-- hippo, Jul 28 2020 //so are they double the size of regular avocados and pineapples, or EIGHT times the size?//
Yes, you may be correct.-- pocmloc, Jul 28 2020 * assuming a universe with 3 dimensions of space-- hippo, Jul 29 2020 That's a shit load of squishy fruit if you live alone. It'll go bad before you can eat it all. Maybe give it away or open your very own "fresh" food bank. That's a good idea too.-- blissmiss, Jul 29 2020 random, halfbakery
