Caution: Not to be worn in airports.
These shoes are styled like tap and flamenco shoes with heels and soles thick enough to house several rolls of caps. Whether used for dancing, making a statement, or just some spoiled little foot stomping, these shoes will let off a bang and a puff of smoke to let others know that you mean business.
Within the heel there is a cylinder loaded with rolls of caps. By scraping the shoe on the ground first, the cylinder rotates a new cap into place. By stomping ones foot the shock causes the cap to explode harmlessly, producing the noise and smoke. A quick shuffle and new caps rotate so one can continue for quite a while. The heel pops open and replacement cartridges fit in quickly so as not to interrupt your stormy display.-- xandram, Feb 19 2007 BANG! http://www.bullybee...-and-fart-bombs.htm [2 fries shy of a happy meal, Feb 20 2007] This seems like a good time to take up traditional irish stepdancing...
Riverdance will never be the same again. Croissant!-- we_dont_eat_them, Feb 19 2007 I remember seeing a pair of balls coated with some kind of cappy substance - every time you hit them together, you'd get a small explosion and a whiff of sweet-smelling smoke. I'd like to see an entire stage coated with the stuff, and the entire dance-troop's shoes similarly treated. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers would never be the same again!-- zen_tom, Feb 19 2007 This idea could fit together nicely with those shoes with a wheel in either heel.-- fridge duck, Feb 19 2007 Yes, I did mean that they were in both heels. Thanks for your help [fridge duck].-- xandram, Feb 19 2007 Airport security is going to love these.
I was going to think up a footwear/pyrotechnic pun, but at some point you've just got to put your foot down.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Feb 19 2007 // every time you hit them together, you'd get a small explosion and a whiff of sweet-smelling smoke.//
There was a young man from Madras
Who had two big balls made of brass.
When he struck them together
They played Stormy Weather
And lightning shot out of his ass.-- nomocrow, Feb 19 2007 [nomo] If you don't mind, I won't be using that poem in my advertising campaign.-- xandram, Feb 19 2007 I don't know, [xandram], it's pretty catchy.-- we_dont_eat_them, Feb 19 2007 [2fries], you've got to toe the line.-- normzone, Feb 19 2007 Heelarity enshoes.-- jutta, Feb 19 2007 Oh for goodness sake. Puns.
[+] because my daughter would love these.
Incidentally, the exploding ball things are excellent and, so far, don't seem to wear out (though they must eventually). They need quite a sharp blow to make a bang (ie, against eachother, or onto concrete), but the result is very satisfying. They seem to be made of some kind of cement-like substance with some impact-sensitive explosive mixed in - perhaps the explosive is the same as that used in those little throw- downs? Anyone know?-- MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 19 2007 I love puns! Does anyone have a link for the exploding balls? All I could find was exploding golf balls.-- xandram, Feb 20 2007 I'm afraid I threw away the packaging, but they were Chinese (as if that would help!). If I find anything I'll let you know.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 20 2007 [linkage] Ninth one down.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Feb 20 2007 Thanks [2Fries]-- xandram, Feb 20 2007 m'pleasure.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Feb 20 2007 You are really on the ball.-- xandram, Feb 20 2007 "Oops, pardon me, I'll move over" she said.-- normzone, Feb 20 2007 She's so light on her feet.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Feb 20 2007 Really, it is just a snap.-- xandram, Feb 21 2007 random, halfbakery
