No. Pufferfish's don't deserve to be eaten. It's unethical.

Besides... they're cute.

Love the sushi link.

In order to avoid confusion with barracuda-fugu-tuna, I think this should be called barrafunha.

(Sp: piranha or pirana, in spite of Wikipedia's benevolent redirect.)

[I agree that this is neither only a pun nor a recipe, and am ignoring the MFDs to that effect. Please don't gratuitously tag ideas. Thanks!]

[jutta] thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't noticed the redirect. I guess there are numerous ways of spelling the name of that fish that are considered correct.

I'll have mine with a side order of potaroteas - green peas stuffed inside a carrot, stuffed inside a potato. With some spray-on butter.
-- Canuck, May 05 2007

I think if that was the case, that Jutta would have signified as much... debatable issue, but not a debate worth having.
-- xenzag, May 05 2007

I think it is a recipe, too.

Sure looks like a recipe. Or maybe a pun.

[marked-for-deletion] pun.

pun, noun. "the usually humorous use of a word in such a way as to suggest two or more of its meanings or the meaning of another word similar in sound ".

Nope, don't see a pun here.
Or did you mean "bun"?

recipe - the central purpose of the invention is to describe how to prepare a dish that could be enjoyed by people eating it.

As a chef I know a recipe when I see one and how to follow it. If this is a recipe then it is not a complete one, rather a list of three ingredients meant to be combined in a manner similar to turducken.

If you would like to try it, good luck. Fugu is not widely available outside of Japan and can only be prepared by specially licensed sushi chefs.

As a play on words, amusing.

I spear and eat west coast barrracuda when I have the opportunity, they're yummy.

I've not had the opportunity to try fugu yet, but I suspect it's little fragments of fish, which would be lost in the three foot long barracuda.

I'm guessing pirhana probably tastes much like bluegill, which is OK in itself, but I'm betting the problem here would be three dissimilar and not complimentary flavors/textures.
