'Russian Doll' Easter Egg   (+24)  [vote for, against]

Successively nested Easter eggs, each one made of a darker chocolate and shaped more like a Russian doll, the very centre one containing something suitable creepy, such as a tiny, faceless clown doll made from white chocolate.

are the eggs in the shops already?

shouldn't this be in Health: teeth?

This gets one bun for a cool bit of weirdart / culturejamming / thingumystuff and another for increasing the chocolate content of easter eggs.

Bun, but only if due consideration given to that clown figure not being made of chocolate, but lays another egg when squeezed. (comes with dire warning not to swallow etc., of course)

I agree [po] a toothless clown may be more like it. But a huge raw yolk dripping bun for hippo.

Does it have to be creepy? Why does it have to be creepy? Russian dolls aren't necessarily creepy, why must this thing be?

I now realise my wish for the innermost doll to be faceless and a bit sinister is a subconscious half-memory of the title sequence of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy".

all the more creepy if you've already eaten the outer layers...

My friend Jez had a small jangly skeleton dangling from the mirror of his mini clubman estate, who's name was "Nothingface", only whenever you referred to him by name, you had to say it in a whispering voice.

i miss the forty-four aisles of chocolate at sainsbury's 'round easter. *sigh* hard to be american sometimes.

//i miss the forty-four aisles of chocolate at sainsbury's 'round easter.//

We went to survey the aisles dedicated to egg yesterday. It really is something. I kept thinking we'd reached the end; surely this is it, there's gardening products... then we'd find another tranche.

This is beautiful, but to make it work I think you'd need to individually wrap each egg with aluminum foil or something otherwise they'd all stick together. Unwrap the outer one which is a shell that splits apart, eat it. Unwrap the next one, eat it too and so on.

Does anybody know if this has actually been done? I go to the store with Easter coming up I have to wade through the chocolate eggs, you can't tell me nobody's ever done this.

Lizzy's Chocolate Creations of Australia, [doc]. See link. But the centre isn't creepy.
-- bhumphrys, Apr 20 2025

Okay, but they didn't give them individual wrappers with different pictures on them.

Center's a little creepy, looks like baby eggs in a womb that was cut in half. Although I guess all eggs are "baby" eggs.

I'm shocked nobody's done the unwrap one, open it, put the ones inside aside, eat it, open the next one repeat till you get to the surprise center. I'd just go with one last chocolate egg myself.

Thanks for the link, if you can find the multiple individually wrapped ones I'll buy them.

I guess they figure the foil is an unnecessary expense, and maybe annoying. On the outside it's protective before purchase; the alternative is maybe plastic. But inside, you can look after it as you see fit.

I want the layers of art on the wrapping myself. Trying to stay away from chocolate these days though.
-- doctorremulac3, Apr 20 2025

[loris] It would be interesting to nest them so they would slip off of the next smaller one (up), or out of the bottom of the next larger one, with no need for foil. Maybe vanilla cream as a lubricant? It’s worked for me before.
