Wrist watch "shock" alarm   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Instead of "beep"... "BZZZZZZZZT!!" :s

Ok I have serious problems when it involves waking up in the morning. I have tried using a normal alarm clock (as well as some louder "classic" alarm clocks) in order to wake me up in the mornings, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be enough. 1 of 2 things happens, I sleep through the alarm, or I wake up (semi-conscious), turn it off, and go back to sleep (and usually when I wake up later, am none the wiser that I've done this!)

An idea for me would be somehow incorporate; 1) A standard wristwatch 2) One of those fitness devices that deliver small electric shocks.

By changing the alarm output from the standard "beep" to an small electrical charge, I could instantly see me waking up to one of these, and literally being zapped out of bed in the morning.

So, how would the battery life be?

If you've ever seen one of those exercise things, they have a separate battery unit.. It could realistically just be one of those, just triggered by the watch.

Ah yes. I missed that.

So it's sort of 2 "baked" ideas, combined together into one "half-baked" idea :D

To maximize battery life, how about a lithium ion battery? As long as this is only your wake-up alarm watch, you could set it in the charging dock while you're awake and put it on your wrist before you go to sleep. I like it! I have friends with the same problem with alarms.

Before I found this site, I just spent half an hour looking for a watch exactly like the one described by Rufio. Are you telling me that no such watch exists? The links to the sonic boom clock and vibrating watch are also very much appreciated!

Sleep on plastic sheets, capacitor collects static charge all night, discharges at set time.

Hell on the pacemaker tho'

I love when you go to search for something, and you wind up finding an HB entry about it. It's so nice to know you're not the only one looking for these things. I could see this easily being made. And I like the lithium-ion idea. "Just for bed" and you'd remember to put it on the same way you remember to set your alarm.
