The builders next door are listening to the radio, which is playing an unending stream of great 80's hits. This makes me think there ought to be a sort of Shazam service to identify radio stations. So, after listening to one or two songs and comparing with all other stations available on local FM/DAB bands this would tell you what station you were hearing.-- hippo, Jul 10 2015 That is not a bad idea.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jul 10 2015 Idea, that is not a bad.-- Voice, Jul 10 2015 ...now playing Soul II Soul "Back to Life"-- hippo, Jul 10 2015 hmm... why not pick up the frequency from the radio, itself ? It used to be illegal to operate an FM radio on an airplane, for fear it would mess up the aircraft controls.-- FlyingToaster, Jul 10 2015 What's a Radio? - ha (actually I still use my classic Bush radio with no FM) and I will NEVER use DAB - crap, puny signal compared to FM (I have a great Roberts FM radio too - British of course)-- xenzag, Jul 10 2015 How do you know it's a radio station?-- tatterdemalion, Jul 10 2015 The real problem is that there are too many stations on the wireless. Why it was considered necessary to supplement the Home Service with crass - even commercial! - broadcasts is quite beyond reasoning.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jul 10 2015 random, halfbakery
