Bubba cackles with glee, his mullet whipping behind him, as he presses the engine throttle forward. With no regard for the Budweiser at his feet, he swings the boat to the left and then to the right. The skier towed behind is slingshotted out at tremendous speeds and launched into the air several times. The skier hollers as his sphere simply continues to glide along the water.
Bubba is disappointed. His boat maneuvering is famous for wiping out any waterskier, kneeboarder, tuber, or tobaggoner, usually in violent, bathing suit extracting fashion. But, the Ski-O-Sphere has won the day.
Specs: Clear plastic semi-enclosed sphere to be towed behind a skiboat with a single occupant. Reinforced floating bottom provides protection and support. Spherical shape means no edges to "catch", making wipeouts obsolete.-- Enjoyer, Apr 14 2004 Zorb http://www.zorb.com/Put a hatch and a handle on one of these things and you're off! [DrCurry, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004] Oh you could still get hurt inside one of these.-- yabba do yabba dabba, Apr 14 2004 "The skier hollers as his sphere simply continues to glide along the water." "I can't breathe! I can't breathe!"
The nice thing is, in the event of an accident, the skier can be used as a floatation device...-- phoenix, Apr 14 2004 I'm not convinced that your invention would REDUCE injury ... like how mullets add insult to injury ...-- Letsbuildafort, Apr 14 2004 UB has a mullet and cackles with glee?!
These clear plastic enclosed spheres you speak of are actually Widely Baked, so hooking one up to a power boat is eminently doable. They are popular in New Zealand, which has an abundance of water, so maybe someone has done it already. Just don't go near the reefs.-- DrCurry, Apr 14 2004 Using this device could be really dangerous, but it sounds incredibly fun to me.
Anyone who's ever been dragged behind a skiboat on a rubber "tube" can attest to the incredible feeling of speed and danger.-- Enjoyer, Apr 14 2004 somehow, I was picturing a powered version of the roaming goldfish bowl.
Quite disappointing.-- ato_de, Apr 14 2004 From the title I thought this was going to be a gigantic sphere with water in the bottom that would begin to spin and you would water ski on the inside.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Apr 14 2004 random, halfbakery
