I had an idea to had a water column slow down and catch divers jumping from hundreds of feet above and Max suggested after catching them they could suspend them in mid air.
So I'm taking that idea and moving it to the next step: moving that column once you've got a person atop it to create rides.
Ferris wheels, roller coasters, teeter totter style rides, all would be possible by sequentially moving the columns of water by opening and closing the nozzles in the appropriate order.
Now the design of the basic column is critical. If you just have a column of water spraying up the person wouldn't be able to stay atop it. What you have is a tube of water of very high velocity with an interior of slightly lower velocity water that forms a sort of cup the person sits in.
This column moves around the body of water carrying the person with it and rises and falls, moves left and right, circles and does whatever pattern necessary to establish the ride path.
Picture a park with hundreds of these columns, each with a person atop it moving to form various rides.
OHH! You could even have it throw people with one column and catch them with another!
OK, Max showed up to work and simplified the concept such that it might actually be doable. Plastic balls stay on station without the complicated dual flow water column and also offer some safety padding.
Ok, you've earned your G&T for the day.
