When the Sun is low the polished surface of a cars hood and fenders will reflect sunlight into the drivers eyes. I propose that a readily deployable lower sun shade could be positioned just inside the windshield. When not deployed it could lay on the dash top or fold to an inconspicuous strap like shape or even be retracted into the dash. When deployed the shade need only shield those parts of the hood and fenders that can be seen by the driver. The U.S. Air Force applied a flat black paint to those surfaces on an airplane where reflected sunlight could dazzle the pilot.-- hangingchad, Dec 12 2004random, halfbakery
