Whilst sitting on an underheated train on the morning commute I realized my feet were cold - more specifically the toes. Toe cozies are similar to the toe portion of a sock (tip of toe to the ball of the foot) but of a thin, stretchy, warm material - perhaps thinsulate. There is an elastic strap that slips over your ankle to secure the cozy in place. Cozies are thin enough to be worn under your regular socks/stockings. Or they can be worn over the socks in case you need to take them off later.-- bluerowan, Mar 08 2002 (?) THis very thing http://www.snowandr...ategory=Accessories [goff, Mar 08 2002, last modified Oct 17 2004] Low profile socks http://www.xkms.org...s-White-(Socks).htm [phoenix, Mar 08 2002, last modified Oct 17 2004] Similar to above http://www.organicc...ges/woolslipper.jpg [phoenix, Mar 08 2002, last modified Oct 17 2004] lots and lots of llama socks and stuff http://www.endsofth...ep.com/catalog.htmlfor poor old blue feet [po, Mar 09 2002, last modified Oct 17 2004] Yes I know there are similar foot warmers out there but I would like to think the strap and being able to wear them over or under regular socks/stockings isn't as baked.-- bluerowan, Mar 08 2002 As one who suffered from extreme coldness of the everything during my years as a bus driver, I entirely sympathise. Perhaps this croissant will warm your tiny toes.-- angel, Mar 08 2002 Baked (or toasted) I'm afraid. You can get a neoprene version which does just as you describe for wearing when you're skiing. See link. My wife swears by them.-- goff, Mar 08 2002 and when you take them off, you can slip the warm toe cozy onto your mug of tea and keep that warm (tea cozy)perhaps not. nice one blue..croissant-- po, Mar 08 2002 Despite the fact that these are worthy items, I think they're hilarious looking. Couldn't you just cut off the end of a sock?-- waugsqueke, Mar 08 2002 I just wear wool socks.-- phoenix, Mar 08 2002 I could have used these this morning. Was minus 30 degrees Celcius!! It was a miracle that my toes and the rest of me arrived in one albeit cold piece.
Two pairs of socks don't work and I'm allergic to wool.
Heck I'll just move to a warmer climate. I've spent a quarter of my life in winter. Now that is depressing.-- bluerowan, Mar 09 2002 I've spent almost all my life in summer. That's depressing too.
Why not wear boots? This is kind of the stock in trade for them...-- StarChaser, Mar 09 2002 are you allergic to llama wool? blue. link to follow-- po, Mar 09 2002 Seems like the elastic strap would cut off circulation, making your toes colder rather than warmer.-- mrthingy, Mar 09 2002 po: Never tried llama wool. Llamas even on the socks how cute! mrthingy: It wouldn't be a tight elastic...just enough to keep the cozies from "riding up"on your foot.-- bluerowan, Mar 13 2002 Oh. Well that's OK then.-- mrthingy, Mar 13 2002 women know about elastic, mrthingy - just enough speaks volumes - go back to sleep dear.-- po, Mar 13 2002 Righto.-- mrthingy, Mar 15 2002 pats mrthingy on the top of his head and gives him a sugar lump.-- po, Mar 15 2002 Mmm-mm-mmm. Yummy.-- mrthingy, Jul 05 2002 good boy, night night.-- po, Jul 05 2002 Zzz-zzz-zzzz-zz-z.-- mrthingy, Jul 08 2002 random, halfbakery
