One thing that would make ice hockey a popular sport would be if it had some sense of peril or danger associated with it. What I propose is putting the entire rink on a fulcrum positioned at the halfway point between the two goals so that the playing surface is a giant see-saw (US: "teeter-totter"). Thus, when all the players rush down one end, the playing surface will tip in an alarming manner. Interesting new tactics will emerge, whereby a team will move its players around to create a tipping motion at an advantageous time or conversely to prevent the other team doing the same.-- hippo, Jan 10 2024 Similar Tilty_20PitchTilting soccer, but for a (slightly) different reason. I'm sure I've seen tilting soccer somewhere else, too. [neutrinos_shadow, Jan 10 2024] I thought it was called the super bowl because it was played on a giant concave ice rink. But your idea is good too.-- pocmloc, Jan 10 2024 I was thinking of "tilting" as a synonym for "jousting". In this version the horses, and not the players, would wear skates, and a maze of linear barriers would have to be negotiated.-- pertinax, Jan 10 2024 [pertinax] I like that! - it would be Ice Polo rather than Ice Hockey-- hippo, Jan 11 2024 random, halfbakery
