//warning, this is a less heart rending addition to [FishRat]'s Thought Bubbles, which I love// Basically, the ThoughtSponge would be a colection of ThoughtBubbles, a real time, virtual, geographical, bulletin board. Allowing people to post either static, categorised comments about a geographical location (a la a Bubble), or to have threaded discussions off the back of it. Enough talk, some examples 1) Buy one get one free coffee today 2) I love this place, the smell of the croissants is my favourite thing 3) hmmn, does anyone else think the violin section are just not paying attention? 4) in the 1940's this place was a bank People could also vote on whether they thought a particular bubble interesting and you could view these bubbles sorting either by date (for topical discussion) or by voting order (most popular bubbles first). At the moment you'd have to use a PC or similar to view the posts (if you're wireless you can set your device to beep when it comes across thoughtsponge topics of interest to you), but in the future (hmm, a sniff of magic about the future methinks), you'd want to be able to interface with the thoughtsponge telepathically, e.g. when you're really bored at a gig/lecture/cinema/cafe/bar/gallery you could have off topic conversations in thoughtsponge without having to disturb other viewers (who'd obviously turn off their thoughtsponge access anyway).. "Come on now class, and no playing with the thoughtsponge in my lesson"-- neilp, Nov 09 2003 FishRat's bubbles http://www.halfbake...a/Thought_20Bubblesa few bubbles makes a sponge [neilp, Oct 04 2004] Geocorder http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/geocorder [waugsqueke, Oct 04 2004] you could also add video/still frame/audio to the location, so say you're at the grand canyon and you take a nice photo, you could share it with everyone else by leaving it in the thoughtsponge.-- neilp, Nov 09 2003 P2P thought-sharing? Me like. Privacy issues clearly exist, but provided you could turn it off at will this is cool +
Also a new and presumably hard-to-trace method of cheating at exams and similar tests-- Mistress Bling, Nov 09 2003 Sounds very similar to egnor's Geocorder (link), except for the telepathic/magic bit.-- waugsqueke, Nov 09 2003 random, halfbakery
