Prince Harry has implied that "No-one wants to be King or Queen".
Why not use a tried and trusted method to relieve them of this clearly onerous responsibility ?
In the past, England has imported monarchs from several European nations, mostly the Netherlands (House of Orange) and Germany (Hanover and Saxe-Coburg-Gotha).
So, simply offer the succession to a suitable candidate - there are plenty still around.
This might be a useful bargaining chip during the Brexit negotiations. If the EU thought that the next British monarch was likely to have a pointy moustache, jackboots, and a spike on their hat, it might give them pause for thought. If said monarch were also male, that might focus their minds even more.-- 8th of 7, Jun 24 2017 https://en.wiktiona.../wiki/Prince_Albert ... but I expect you knew that. [pertinax, Jun 25 2017] I am shocked, sir, shocked and jolted to my core. Yes, our Royal Family may be a bunch of Germans and Greeks but, by gods and little fishes sir, they are English Germans and Greeks.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 24 2017 Not alien lizards in disguise, then ?-- 8th of 7, Jun 24 2017 Perhaps, but at least they're English German and Greek alien lizards in disguise.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 24 2017 What about Princess Anne ?-- 8th of 7, Jun 24 2017 Well, she may be a horse disguised as a German and Greek alien lizard in disguise, but at least she's an English horse disguised as a German and Greek alien lizard in disguise.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 24 2017 I don't think you can do that on a lizard.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 24 2017 That would depend on if the lizard was over 18 years of age and capable of giving informed consent, shirley ?-- 8th of 7, Jun 24 2017 //England has imported monarchs from several European nations/
I'd suggest looking further afield to sourcing someone from one, or preferably two, of the ex colonies. On a unrelated note, what's the pay like?-- AusCan531, Jun 25 2017 Not bad, but it's long hours and a lot of travel. Then again, it's a live-in job, and you get a nice hat.-- 8th of 7, Jun 26 2017 Yes, it should be done following a standard competency-based job interview. Candidates may also be asked to prepare short presentation as part of the interview and to demonstrate their waving technique.-- hippo, Jun 26 2017 Who would be on the interview panel ?-- 8th of 7, Jun 26 2017 Randomly-selected members of the UK population, of course. And the head of HR.-- hippo, Jun 26 2017 <booming voice> Bring me the head of HR! <\bv>-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 26 2017 //they are English Germans and Greeks//
Well that's fitting, as the Queen's English is just a relabeled, imported amalgam of German and Greek anyway.-- RayfordSteele, Jun 26 2017 I don't know, trying to figure out how to manage your royalty problems seems like looking at the design of a car powered by squirrels and arguing about what to name them.
We came up with a pretty foolproof way of solving the whole royalty problem a couple of hundred years ago. We can lend you the recipe if you want.
But if you insist on having a pharaoh or whatever, I Iike your idea for a replacement. Whatever it takes to get those Euro-Union blood suckers off your back. [+]-- doctorremulac3, Jun 26 2017 //a pretty foolproof way// Never thought about ugly fools?-- pocmloc, Jun 27 2017 All the time. Where have you been during the last election cycle?-- RayfordSteele, Jun 27 2017 // We can lend you the recipe if you want. //
What, for a system that might have put another Clinton in the White House ?
Thankyou, but no.-- 8th of 7, Jun 27 2017 Gotta admit, that's a solid point.-- doctorremulac3, Jun 28 2017 random, halfbakery
