Surreptitious Bumperstickerator   (+50, -2)  [vote for, against]
*Slap*

A small device, mounted under the front of your bumper, loaded with bumper stickers. Inch close to the driver in front of you and press the red button.

A padded mechanical arm reaches out, applies a bumper sticker, and quietly retracts, leaving the other driver none the wiser.

Comes pre-loaded schematic with your choice of stickers, ranging from "Honk if you love Jesus" to "My kid can beat up your honor student", and everything in between.

There are quite a few. [mitxela, Dec 04 2015]

As seen yesterday on the road: New, black Hummer; chrome wheels, tinted windows. And in the left-hand side of the rear bumper? Small "Greenpeace" bumper sticker.

Evidence of the Surreptitious Bumperstickerator having been baked?
-- methinksnot, May 25 2006

How close do you think you should be when utilizing this feature? maybe a grapple setup that fires darts for each of the corners of the sticker. it would slid across on wires, be attached, and then the whole thing would release. that way you wouldn't have to tailgate the monster SUV.
-- tcarson, May 25 2006

For use at traffic lights only.
-- methinksnot, May 25 2006

What I usually see between those two bumper stickers is a camo colored ribbon and a Bush/Cheney'04 sticker.
-- Galbinus_Caeli, May 26 2006

[methinksnot] Oh the irony!
-- DesertFox, May 26 2006

"Only a fool breaks the two second rule"
-- NickTheGreat, May 26 2006

i want one loaded with "I Cause Traffic" Stickers
-- bleh, May 26 2006

Some Hollywood star or other (I think they're all the same person anyway) bought a Honda Prius after finding a bumper sticker on her Hummer that read: "I'm changing the environment - ask me how.". I always thought that was really funny.
-- wagster, May 26 2006

+

You could try putting "I (heart) my Geo" on some huge monster trucks.
-- xandram, May 26 2006

This may eventually get traffic to move faster, with everyone afraid of the person behind them getting too close.

Here in Red Sox-ville one of the more popular stickers reads "Yankees Suck". A stack of these in New York should do the trick. ;)

Does it account for bumper height differences?
-- Shz, May 26 2006

Why, of course! You want to be able to bumperstickerate SUVs, don't you?
-- DesertFox, May 28 2006

Hoorahs for besticklering. [+]
-- epicproblem, May 29 2006

[epic], If Google is any judge (it really shouldn't be, but it is) then you have just invented a new word. Congratulations.
-- hidden truths, May 29 2006

astute readers will note that [DesertFox] was also trying to create his own new word.

No, not Bumperstickerator

I was thinking of "Surrepetitious".
-- neilp, May 29 2006

(Typo fixed in the title, as moderators do.) Is a surrepetition what happens if you
you repeat a word without anyone noticing it?
-- jutta, May 29 2006

Well, I don't really know.

Thanks, [jutta]
-- DesertFox, May 29 2006

Like it. Reminds me of the covert stickerating that used to go on at school.

"Kick me hard!"
-- DrBob, May 30 2006

Ah, the good old days...
-- DesertFox, May 30 2006

....I'm imagining a back-bumper version, to retaliate. You slap one on my back, I slap one on your front, repeat.

Seeing cars with little arms slapping each other when they get too close would seem just soooo appropriate somehow.
-- sophocles, May 30 2006

[jutta], only if if no-one notices.

This reminds me of a comedian on the Bob And Tom CD who listed a series of bumper stickers to put on other people's cars - I Hate Cops is the one that sticks in my mind.
-- egbert, May 30 2006

if it uses something sticky/corrosive, the bumperstickerator could become the next wave in revenge, perhaps even replacing the bleaching of clothes or keying of cars (as featured in "Judge Judy")

[UnaBubba] et al, thanks for the witty surrepartee
-- pigtails_and_ponies, May 31 2006

A Gay Pride sticker on that pickup with the Confederate flag in the back window...
-- Eugene, May 31 2006

Would that be a Surrepublican?
-- egbert, May 31 2006

"Honk if you love horses"
-- aglet, May 31 2006

[+] Hahaha. This would be amazing! A firm favourite of mine is

"How's my driving? Call 0800-EAT-SHIT".
-- kuupuuluu, May 31 2006

This device must already be out there somewhere - as i see plenty of Bush 2004 stickers... Now that's a mean sticker to dupe one with! ;)
-- stingray1z, May 31 2006

Brilliant.

"I've Been Bumpered by Mr Phase"
-- Mr Phase, May 31 2006

"Quiet. Cell phone in use."
"Slow. Eyesight 25/450"
"Not my sticker. This car sucks."
"Ashtray broken. Lungs still work. Keep back 1/4 mile"

Repetitious ... repetitious ... I'd wear this out quicker than the "off" button on my TV remote.
-- reensure, Jun 01 2006

"My other car is also a Hummer"
-- energy guy, Jun 01 2006

DO NOT REMOVE
This sticker is the only thing holding my car together.
-- nick_n_uit, Jun 01 2006

Don't forget "Pave the Bay" for the tree-huggers and "I hate bumper stickers" bumper sticker.
-- MoreCowbell, Jun 06 2006

the defense against this would be bumpers that ooze oil. sticker slides right off.
-- tcarson, Jun 06 2006

[tcarson] Well, we'll just have to add some sort of de-oilification spray, won't we...

Either that or a nail gun.
-- DesertFox, Jun 07 2006

[jutta] //Is a surrepetition what happens if you you repeat a word without anyone noticing it?//.... then once it's finally noticed, and everyone gets to hear about it over and over again, does it become a surrapetition?

[+] for the orginal idea, [DF] that I meant to pick up on earlier.
-- xenzag, Jul 26 2006

ha ha, it's back! [desertfox] then we need an anti-de-oilification device.
-- tcarson, Jul 27 2006

So why/how does this idea have a image included? Was this an old feature of HB? Did Jutta add it herself? Looks nicely hand drawn

-- notexactly, Dec 04 2015

Mind. Blown.

So follow up question, how come the "graphic illustrator" stopped? I haven't seen a illustration on an idea in years. In fact the only ones I know of are evil laugh activated hand dryer and this one. I always thought it was just a fluke. . .
-- evilpenguin, Dec 04 2015

I have one too! Lucky me.
-- xenzag, Dec 04 2015

I thought of a similar idea to this today and had forgotten that this idea exists - a classic idea
