Stove top belly dancer   (+7)  [vote for, against]
Stir it up

In a molecular biology labs it is fairly common to see a belly dancer. A belly dancer is a shaker used for long periods of solution mixing. It shakes solutions, at adjustable speeds, by moving in a lateral circular motion, much like a belly dancer.

I think it would be fairly easy to make a gas stove with this feature already installed, so that the moving portion would be the grill above each burner. This would allow easy stirring for roux and cream sauces and more evenly distributed cooking temps for other foods.

Doable and a good idea. But bear in mind that lab bellydancers are note designed to take heat - you'd need a tougher version to work on a stovetop.

Ah, Hironymous Note, the famous designer of heat resistant lab bellydancers, finally gets some credit, courtesy of the good Dr. Maxwell.

Preferably with a 50's tiki hula girl printed on the side.

Or, for old-fashioned wood-burners, a pot-bellied stove-top belly dancer.
