Instead of a needle, it uses a laser to read optical CDs and plays the music therein as it drives around in circles on top of the disc. Now since the car would have to drive around the CD at 500 RPM it would need some modification but nothing we couldn't figure out. See link for vinyl version.
* I guess I should say semi-modernize it because CDs are dead too now, which is sad, because there's no toy car player possibilities for MP3s. You'd just have to have a little toy car drive around in circles while you listen to your MP3 while wondering what the meaning of life is.-- doctorremulac3, Sep 29 2019 Maybe have it look even more old timey just to be interesting. https://www.youtube...watch?v=rZZ5x80h3B4Like a Model T Ford with a big gramophone horn on the top. [doctorremulac3, Sep 29 2019] What do you have in mind for the modernization? The fact that it will play on cd's somehow instead of vinyl? (You are adding information while I'm thinking. Must stop that...hahaha.)-- blissmiss, Sep 29 2019 Laser instead of a needle, 500 rpm instead of 33 1/3rd.
Andy by the way, who's the jerk that added the "1/3rd" to the spins on a damn record? (He said from his rocking chair on the porch shaking his cane at the young wippersnappers passing by.)-- doctorremulac3, Sep 29 2019 The little car could be big and scan the whole disk in one short drive. A roller would be perfect, two scanning drums. The roller could then pretended to work to the audio of the disc. A disc of roadside safety lectures would be intriguing.-- wjt, Sep 30 2019 random, halfbakery
