Solid Lego consists of bricks which use ten times as much material as the conventional light weight plastic variety currently in existence. The new bricks are also much bigger, use recycled plastic, but work in exactly the same way as the current mostly hollow ones.
The reason to do this is to help by way of recycling to use up more of the world's millions of tons of discarded plastic.
