A cool option for computer displays would be to have them slide down to the bottom of the screen over time. This would have to happen extremely slowly, of course; I'm thinking maybe a millimeter per hour. Of course, different icons would slide down at different rates; programs containing more information would be "heavier" and therefore slide faster. Alternatively, larger icons could simply be heavier. Optionally, the sliding symbols could leave behind a sticky visible residue that causes the cursor to move a bit slower when it passes over the trail.
This would humanize the desktop a bit, and also force people to give the icons a bit of attention so they don't end up in a pile at the bottom of the display. Or you could just let the icons slowly shift at the bottom of the screen and crystallize into the most efficient pattern...-- DrWorm, Nov 27 2009 Free desktop clutter program http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/ [leinypoo13, Nov 27 2009] Go the whole hog and turn the icons into tetrominoes...<cue Russian dancers>-- Jinbish, Nov 27 2009 Nice +-- xenzag, Nov 27 2009 This would really help me.
