This would be a firmware update or an add-on module to car stereos. It would use advanced signal processing to detect sleigh bells and immediately cause the radio to change to the next preset station. For those of us who dislike Christmas music, this would be a godsend.-- tourist, Dec 19 2006 maybe it could also detect the words "santa" "Christmas" "jingle" "sleigh" "reindeer" etc. and do the same thing-- acurafan07, Dec 19 2006 Carols in car commercials rarely use the words "sleigh" and "reindeer", but the sleigh bell thing is ingenious!-- phundug, Dec 19 2006 //Carols in car commercials rarely use the words "sleigh" and "reindeer"// Car commercials aren't as annoying as the actual songs the stations play, which frequently use the words "sleigh" and "reindeer"-- acurafan07, Dec 19 2006 I mean the car commercials that play Christmas carols but change the words. E.g. "Come and buy a new Toyota, fa la la la la, la la la la". But these can still be identified by the sleigh bell overtrack!-- phundug, Dec 19 2006 Yeah or that "Happy Hondadays" one... Ok I know what you mean now, and yes those are very annoying.-- acurafan07, Dec 19 2006 I was listening to the Lottery commercial last night ("We wish you a million dollars, we wish you a million dollars, we wish you a million dollars, and a...")
Sure enough, there were faint sleigh bells in the background!
[Tourist], you develop this product and I don't care what I have to do, I will raise enough money to produce it. This is frickin' brilliant.-- phundug, Dec 20 2006 Buns-galore from me. I was Christmas shopping the other day and they wer playing dodgy 80s christmas songs. I literally almost did walk up to an assistant and say "right, who put this CD on, I want to strangle them". I doesent make me feel Christmas-y, it doesen't make me spend more, it just makes me want to get out of the shop as quickly as possible. It leaves me in a blank daze so much so that I can't even remeber what I'm there for. If they want to play christmas music, traditional songs would be marginally more tolerable than the crap they churn out.-- webfishrune, Dec 20 2006 humbug.-- jonthegeologist, Dec 20 2006 Yes, black and white striped sweets.-- webfishrune, Dec 20 2006 random, halfbakery
