Windscreen wipers for side windows

When driving rain from the side obstucts view from windows, instead of trying to drive with the window down and being lashed by terrible wind and rain just install the new side wipers?? - or not. Could also be fitted to wing mirrors.

You should try not to drive sideways arora. My suggestions for alternatives would be the conventional forwards, or the slightly wacky backwards.

Thanks for the advise mc: I'll give it a go and let you know....I'm a 'Pisces'
-- arora, Feb 19 2002

I guess it is just me, does no-one else suffer from driving rain against the drivers side window? Not driving sideways, backwards or underwater or upside down. That's what you get for living up North I assume. (I can't do skids)
-- arora, Feb 19 2002

Drive faster. If you drive fast enough you will not need any wipers at all (try this, it's great!). Proper side window defoggers would be much more useful.

(Coincidentally I am Pisces too, but am allergic to fish - I figure that is significant)
-- rbl, Feb 19 2002

Me too - that's strange, especially prawns.

'fraid to say I am an extremely slow driver, especially in driving rain.

I wonder if Taurians are averse to Beef, etc, would be interesting, apart from Librans and weights, .....and Gemini....maybe they're scared of double anything?
-- arora, Feb 19 2002

Before considering the side windows we need to solve the issue as to what is a "LIbran" and "Taurian?" We certainly don't use Geminian or Piscian. Maybe you mean Libra, as in, "Are you a Libra or a Taurus?" or perhaps, "Look at that large group of Libras!"
-- cheeky, Feb 20 2002

I wouldn't use Cancerusus, I'm sure it's Cancerian. I have heard of 'Piscean' but not 'Leoan'. Sorry.
-- arora, Feb 20 2002

Leonine?
-- bristolz, Feb 20 2002

I think this idea has its merits - could come in useful when executing a parking manoeuvre. It's a feckin nightmare having to wind down the window when it's pouring and blowing a gale, just to look in the wing mirrors. Croissant!
-- salachair, Feb 20 2002

I didn't think it was safe to park anywhere in Maryhill salachair.
-- mcscotland, Feb 20 2002

Rare forms of dinosaurs..................I saw a Taurus once (the car) with a personal plate that read "Taurus", thought it was silly at the time but now maybe they are referring to their sign.

Anyhow, the idea would be good if you could get a small enough motor. As it stands they would just add weight, and something else to break down. Do you all really have that much trouble parking?
-- rbl, Feb 20 2002

Motorcycles have no wipers, you just turn your head side to side and the water runs off the visor.

Now that I think about it: don't need side wipers! Just a little deflector thing on the front frame that directs air onto the side window as you drive. Many vans and wagons already have these wings to keep the back window clean, it would work the same way.

Wind noise may be an issue.
-- rbl, Feb 20 2002

Not so primitive blissmiss - I once was driven no small distance by someone who was operating the throttle in the same way.
-- mcscotland, Feb 20 2002

Rayford's birthdate? 4/22.

Place of employment? Ford: Taurus program.

Scary.

So now my next question is: why does the Taurus look like a Pices? Did they get their zodiac confused?
-- RayfordSteele, Feb 20 2002

Rbl, turning your head sideways might make the rain run off your visor if you're driving at breakneck speeds on an impossibly high-horse-powered motorbike, but it doesn't work when you're wobbling along at 33mph on a 49cc moped.

Take it from me.
-- salachair, Feb 20 2002

how about instead of side-windows, you install those circular rotating windows they have on ships? as the water lands on the glass, it is flung to the edges by the "centrifugal force".

or you could use rain-x. see link.
-- mihali, Feb 20 2002

Ah yes, pardon me, I keep forgetting the slow driving factor. I cruise at 100-130 km the whole way to and from work, not break neck but normal for Vancouver. Moped=deathwish.
-- rbl, Feb 20 2002

rbl, you are mistaken. Moped = style, particularly when teamed with a sheepskin coat and black wellies.

Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.
-- salachair, Feb 21 2002

sch: ... and shorts - sounds cool to me.

Are you a librararian or a librarian?
-- arora, Feb 21 2002

Rain-x works in heavy rain, but in anything less <like mist> it evenly distributes the available water over the window, so your wipers become nearly completely useless.

And you can't get RID of the crap, either. Alcohol, bleach, window cleaner, nothing took it off...
-- StarChaser, Feb 21 2002

arora: I'm a knowledge manager, don'tcha know! Ok, so I made that up, I'm a librarian. *sigh*

my rear wiper won't work but more interestingly, am I the only capricorn on this site!
-- po, Feb 26 2002

Actually, studies show that the longer you're on the road, the more likely you'll be in an accident. Therefore, if you drive really really fast, you won't spend as much time on the road and will eliminate the risk of being in an accident.
