A pen holder for installation whereever a pen is constantly required for signing a visitor's book, an engineering log, or a register.

The base unit contains a voice synthesis system, an RFID-type detector, and a speaker and amplifier.

A passive RFID-type transponder is attached to or installed in the pen, and "paired".

If the pen is moved out of range of the holder, say, a metre, the penholder starts to shout, "Hey ! Put the pen back ! You there ! HEY, EVERYONE, STOP THIEF ! THEY'RE STEALING THE PEN !"
