Owners of older cats all know the routine. You take your pet to the veterinarian, and he/she just can't hold it and urinates all inside the cat carrier, causing a shallow pool of liquid waste that not only you have to deal with, but your pet as well. My design would offer two ways of preventing this kind of *cat*astrophe. The first is a self-leveling carrier. You hold on a handle connected to the carrier by two hinges, for horizontal and vertical stability. As you move, the carrier is righted by gravity, and prevents said waste from splashing out. The second would be a removable, disposable liner which would absorb waste (giant diaper?) and take it away from the surface, thus keeping kitty's paws somewhat clean.
Yes, this idea was inspired by a very recent happening of messy events I do not wish to discuss at the moment.-- BinaryCookies, Aug 13 2002 an alternative, perhaps? http://users.surfan...Tote/Tabby Tote.jpgOne for the cat lovers.. [yamahito, Aug 16 2002] Or just remember *never* to hold a cat carrier on your lap under *any* circumstances. (Btw, I always used newspaper under my previous cats; we use an old towel under our current one, as she *never* pees in the carrier. I'm *still* not holding it on my lap, though.)-- DrCurry, Aug 14 2002 Use a Cat-a-pult .....-- 8th of 7, Aug 14 2002 I want a 'Self-Leveling, Absorbent Bottomed Cat'. But then, what would I use to carry it. (sorry)
I don't see how the self-leveling bit would work. Presumably if the cat put its weight into one corner of the cat carrier it would tilt in that direction causing um... 'spillage' as before. The absorbent retentive lining sounds good, though.-- st3f, Aug 14 2002 Well, at least the self-leveling mechanism would prevent error on the human part.-- BinaryCookies, Aug 14 2002 ah.-- st3f, Aug 14 2002 Hmm.. perhaps a self-leveling, incinerator bottomed cat carrier is in order? Takes care of the mess, and maybe with any luck, Morris fries too...-- Mr Burns, Aug 14 2002 thcgenius: I'm with you on this. Let's go look for some R&D funding ....-- 8th of 7, Aug 14 2002 Maybe something more akin to a handbag shape with a hard bottom?
The only problem with 'absorbancy' will be the lingering odor. Something replacable like Huggies or newspapers would be in order.-- RayfordSteele, Aug 15 2002 The Man Show had a good idea for lining.... Kitty Quicksand.. I'll see if I can find a link, although it is fairly self explainatory. And 8th, even though I don't really know you, it was you that came to mind when I saw the Kitty Quicksand man-o-vation last week...-- Mr Burns, Aug 15 2002 random, halfbakery
