The summary pretty much sums it up. The coaster is equipped with small microphones and a built-in computer system that measures decibel level from the passengers, and adjusts the speed accordingly. Might bring in an interesting rider-participation factor into your average roller coaster ride.-- qt75rx1, Mar 16 2008 Not to be confused with... http://www.geekitud...5TronUpCloseRot.jpg [2 fries shy of a happy meal, Mar 18 2008] Yes. Bun. Easily implemented, highly marketable, and totally in tune with the whole ethos of the rollercoaster ride.-- david_scothern, Mar 16 2008 I mis-read this as 'scram-o-treon'.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 16 2008 I wish.
I'm not riding this thing with my daughter. Bun from her, not me.-- baconbrain, Mar 16 2008 Baconbrain, you can only ride in this ride if you are at least this high (points to height sign). Please do not ride the Scream-o-Tron if you are pregnant or have a heart condition, or high blood pressure.
Hm, now that I think about it, it might be difficult to separate the loudness generated by the passengers from the loudness of the ride itself. Any suggestions?-- qt75rx1, Mar 16 2008 Might this not create a positive feedback loop? Involuntary screams of terror provoke even more extreme roller-coastering? Oh well.. serves em right for getting on in the first place.. +-- afinehowdoyoudo, Mar 17 2008 [iron_horse] this is EXACTLY the idea. But then, there IS a certain finite limit on how loud a person can scream... Maybe they should be encouraged to carry loudspeakers and air horns.-- qt75rx1, Mar 17 2008 Why not monitor heart rate, blood pressure and other indicators for signs of stress? A truly terrifying ride would correlate these measurements with its behaviour.-- DenholmRicshaw, Mar 17 2008 Ah, but [Denholm], that'd take a rather long time to rig up all that monitoring equipment! It'd make the line even longer!
(though it'd be good to have it there just in case someone gets a heart attack...)-- qt75rx1, Mar 17 2008 Design your coaster cars with a few extra axles. If the passengers seem excitable enough, have it shed a wheel or two while going up a loop...-- lurch, Mar 17 2008 // if you are pregnant or have a heart condition, or high blood pressure. //
Or you're a deaf mute.
Will the system include a tilting section of track at the end so that the stiffening corpses can be neatly tipped out into a convenient skip ?
"Soylent Green is People !"-- 8th of 7, Mar 17 2008 I think if i were riding it, it would get exponentially faster. The faster/more extreme the ride, the more i scream, the more i hate it, the more i want to get off, the more i curse the creators of this damned piece of equipment, the more i scream, the faster i go, the more i want to choke someone, then i will be traumatized and never ride a roller coaster ever again.-- crazyrog17, Mar 17 2008 [crazyrog], the machine measures only loudness, not gross amount of screaming! How many decibels can YOU get to?-- qt75rx1, Mar 17 2008 Brilliant, if you ask me...NOW GET THE HELLLLLLL AWAY FROMMMMMMMMM ME.-- blissmiss, Mar 17 2008 ho-hum. why isn't this thing moving yet?-- RayfordSteele, Mar 19 2008 random, halfbakery
