Utilizing the gravitational power of rain, there is a small "rainmill" hooked up to a waterproof musicbox, slowly turning.
As the raindrops catch in the buckets on the mill, it turns, also turning the little cylinder in the musicbox.

Of course, it is playing "Singing in the Rain".-- DesertFox, Nov 08 2004 What a great addition this would make to my fountains http://www.halfbake...0Weather_20Fountain [Worldgineer, Nov 08 2004] Rain Bells http://www.scottsof...en-GB&product=27110Not quite "music", but quite nice anyhow [Klaatu, Nov 10 2004] Nice!-- cromagnon, Nov 08 2004 "raindrops keep fallin' on your head..."-- po, Nov 08 2004 Surely this could power my cellphone !-- Gridley, Nov 08 2004 (+) -- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Nov 08 2004 Works for me. +-- sartep, Nov 08 2004 The beauty of this one is that it isn't used to generate power in any way, just tinkle a little.-- wagster, Nov 08 2004 What, it can't play "My Girl?"

I'm racking my brain to think of other ways of making music from the weather in your garden. Wind chimes have been done......lightening theremin anyone...?-- stupop, Nov 09 2004 If you could direct the raindrops somehow, time them using some sort of valve or mechanical means out of a spout, you could place timpani heads underneath them and have some great music.
