Public: Voting: Incentive
Raffle   (+2, -4)  [vote for, against]
Have raffle prizes for voting

The summary pretty much speaks for itself. It might be a solution to the declining voter turnout.

Or just a big jackpot. [jutta, Sep 27 2000]

Good idea, but do we really *want* the votes of a whole bunch of dumbass, white-trash rednecks who show up and vote for any old schmuck just because they can win a prize?

And why not? They're citizens too, and they should be represented.

Ravenswood: You seem to think that you can only vote for the two major party candidates. There were three or four other parties listed, plus a place where you could vote for parties and candidates not listed. Depending on your philosophy, you're either a) wasting your vote, which if you're a voluntary nonvoter you wouldn't care anyway, or b) helping bring about an interesting situation. Even after the whole recount thing, I would love to see the run for the Presidency to come down to Ren Hoek and Stimpson J. Cat vs. Jean-Luc Picard and Spock, or something of the sort.
