If one wears spectacles, it's very hard to keep a pen or pencil behind an ear - a convenient lodging place.
Hence "Pentacles" - spectacles with sidepieces that have clips to hold a ballpoint pen on one side and a pencil (0.5mm propelling) on the on the other.

Fumbling around with clips on the side of my glasses every time I wanted to write something would just make me more of a laughing stock than I am already. I'd go for something that can be brought into action a bit more quickly.
