We know or at least have an expectation that a product under warranty will fail the day the warranty expires. Hence this policy covers just that one day, so is cheap and convenient.-- molecat, Jan 08 2007 Have you read the rules? Or the "help" section?
You are proposing an idea to have an extra day of warranty?-- blissmiss, Jan 08 2007 Please note that this is one of several ideas designed to reinforce and profit from popular superstitions, for example a ladder that squirts paint when walked beneith. The broken mirror that generates seven years of bad luck is also technically possible but more challenging.-- molecat, Jan 08 2007 mole, I'm not out to be the bitch of New England, but I still think this borders on "magic", and/or existing ploys applicance stores here, atleast, do.
Pay now, take home for 30 days, try it out, blah...etc.
I get what you are saying, but it sort of reminds me of when, a long time ago, there were many ideas about "extra holidays", etc. Is that not the same thing you are wanting? Extra this, extra that, to ensure that bad things don't happen. If you change the date from 31 days to 32, what makes you think that the laws of the universe won't suddenly change to fit the theory of day 33?-- blissmiss, Jan 08 2007 Presumably, the person who would buy this could also be sold an infinite number of similar add-on insurance products, each covering the day after the previous one expires?-- pertinax, Jan 08 2007 j. I can't get a message to you without going on my housemates AOL. (I refuse to do.) Could you email me at the old gmail address?
Okay, back to the jousting...-- blissmiss, Jan 08 2007 How about half-off for warranties covering only the weekends? But then, if course, how will that be tracked anyway?-- twitch, Jan 08 2007 There have been a few times where an item of mine had a problem a couple of days outside of the warranty and they fixed it anyway. I think that manufacturers will honor their warranty if it falls within a reasonable time frame after the expiration. I am sure that a week or two after is not a problem but 3 to 4 months after might be. So I would bun this from the perspective of it being a big money maker to the seller. But then again I would bone it for the lack of value to the consumer. My vote- Neutral.-- Jscotty, Jan 08 2007 the murphy's law of the whole warranty thing is that it malfunctions the day after it expires. be it a year, or 2 or whatever.-- shinobi, Jan 08 2007 Like any gamble, this one-day warranty simply plays the odds, it doesn't change them, so no 'magic' required. And like any bet, whether insurance or casino, my money's on the house.-- gafisher, Jan 09 2007 Hey, all you have to do is "make sure" that your gadget busts on that day. <smirk/ smile/whatever> Maybe, get the warranty for a day when you know that your roudy nephews are coming to town and they just love to "throw things around", randomly of course.-- twitch, Jan 09 2007 random, halfbakery
