Punt gun https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punt_gun
Far more popular than the punt gnu, which proved unwieldy. [MaxwellBuchanan, Dec 23 2018]

Perhaps, in the interests of portability, we could revive the punt gun? Admittedly, this would require equipping Gatwick with suitable waterways and punts, but I feel that that would be all to the better.

Crawley could become the Venice of West Sussex.

Although it's said that Birmingham has more canals than Venice, so perhaps Crawley could become the Birmingham of West Sussex. Oh, wait ...

More usefully, Crawley could become the Amsterdam of West Sussex - a far more interesting prospect.
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Dec 23 2018

Indeed; Amsterdam is below sea level, so if Crawley became "the Amsterdam of West Sussex", then a couple of hours' brisk work after midnight with a Black and Decker, and morning would reveal the whole place under five or six metres of salt water.

Then it could be "the Atlantis of West Sussex". There's no downside !

Strange. I seem to have seen an almost identical post on here somewhere.

Not surprising, envious readers often steal our best ideas, sometimes even before we've posted them.
