Nasal-Based Specialized Cognition Amplifier   (+3, -1)  [vote for, against]
Cheap plastic clip independently verified to improve mental performance

According to Yogis, breathing does not occur equally through both nostrils; at any given time it will occur predominantly through one nostril or the other, rotating between left and right every two hours or so.

Furthermore, this nasal cycle corresponds with brain function; Right nostril breathing favours activity of the left brain hemisphere and vice versa. All this is apparently supported by 'modern scientists'.

So, got a Maths Exam? (or just desire logical/verbal acuity?) Apply your NBSCA and set it to seal left nostril...

Thinking of doing a watercolour? Switch to right-nostril-sealage.

Be careful to return the NBSCA to its neutral position (i.e. take it off) after a maximum of 6 hours to prevent oxygen deprivation and brain tissue necrosis.

If you look at the pictures, it's obvious these Yogis need SOMETHING. http://www.abc-of-y...ma/basic/viloma.asp

When I'm sick, I always get my right nostril blocked for days on end, and I swear I can talk to God.
-- daseva, Jun 07 2005

Automated nostril valves could be activated by whatever you're doing on your computer. For example when you're working in Excel the left nostril gets closed; When you're working in Photoshop the right nostril gets closed.

My right nostril has been blocked for a few years by a polyp. Spookily, this corresponds with a period of me finally pulling my finger out and getting some music written.

Well now, bad science? Magic? Maybe not. Gotta bun.

Hey [radicalllama] why not update your profile? Am curious.

Read some satisfied consumers' reports:

'When I'm sick, I always get my right nostril blocked (by my NBSCA) for days on end, and I swear I can talk to God. (He makes me better)'- [daseva]

'(Thanks to my NBSCA, I am) finally pulling my finger out and getting some music written(!)'- [wagster]

And now, for the deluxe model: Small attached canisters giving user directed bursts of caffeinated oxygen; a 'nitro' for the brain, if you will.

[zeno], what was it you wanted to know? ;)

Well, boy/girl, job, where you live, etc. just basically anything you would like to share with us about yourself. One of the fun parts about the halfbakery to me is getting to know people from their ideas and annotations. It goes something like this: [afroassault], with a name like that he must be a real basterd. But then I read more of his stuff and I think: well he doesn't sound so bad, I misjudged, I judge very hastily. Then I read some more of his stuff and I think: hey he comes across as a cool dude, I wonder if he is a dude or girl etc. etc. Once I get interested in someone I check out their profile page. All in all I get very biassed towards people for good or bad and I like this, I think of it as a game to see what I can guess about halfbakers, like a game. It is fun to do from just the annotations and ideas but the profile provides(sometimes) more data and makes the game more interesting. I have even googled some halfbakers and have found personal sites with fotographs, once I found a halfbaker on a dating site and read his/her profile there. I'm just generally interested in personalities and how they work. I try to predict reactions and am often right. The fun here is that I look at people like they are machines and then I allways get surprised when they don't do what I predicted. Thus I am assured that humans are not machines and well, that just gives me pleasure.

(sorry this is just very chatty and has nothing to do with this idea or the purpose of this webite)

I absolutely love the name of this idea.

Easily the best thing I've read all week!
