The Maigic Toothbrush is one that comes with different coloured toothpaste inside the squeezable handle.
Every say 5mm inside the toothbrush would be a different coloured bit of toothpaste ie blue, green, red.
Of course the child isn't to know that. He / she would just think that he / she is being magic and creating the new colours themselves.
The end of the toothbrush could even be in the shape of say a fairy - for little girls - with the bristles being the hair of the fairy. Everytime she would brush her teeth she could 'magically' change the colour of the fairy's hair. Don't know what kind of shape you could have for the boys though, perhaps a wizard?-- gorjabuble, Jul 15 2005 How they make stripey toothpaste http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A1047836Plus various stripey toothpaste themed trivia. [marked-for-d@letion], toothbrush. Love the magic bit, though.-- Fishrat, Jul 15 2005 squeezable handle ? I'm not sure most kids would have the dexterity to squeeze a handle to get the paste out in a uniform, measured amount (kids are only supposed to use/consume a pea sized amount of paste because of the Fluoride).
My fishbone, however, is awarded because of the presupposed need for gender stereotyping.-- neilp, Jul 15 2005 If the paste came out of the handle, wouldn't this be at the opposite end of the toothbrush to the head, making it impossible to apply to the bristles? Also, would the colours all merge into a yucky brown paste? I wouldn't fancy that.-- Fishrat, Jul 15 2005 [neilp] - this might help them as each coloured segment would contain the recommended amount so they would know how much to use (or else they'd squeeze it all out and use it for finger painting on the mirror).
[Fishrat] - ever noticed how stripey toothpaste brands somehow manage to maintain their neat stripes even after much of the tube has been squeezed, bent and abused? I doubt mixing will be a problem.
[marked-for-croissants] - good idea.-- wagster, Jul 15 2005 I'd like one, so that i may be able to see the pixies in the garden, not the monkeys that have gone to heaven.-- skinflaps, Jul 15 2005 [Wags] the thing about stripy toothpaste is that it's striped with a dye as it leaves the tube.... wait, you're playing with me, ain't ya?! [skin] Debase anno.-- Fishrat, Jul 15 2005 yick-- dentworth, Jul 15 2005 Yeah, Kim Deal was pretty nifty on Debaser.-- skinflaps, Jul 15 2005 I kid you not Fishrat, and I'll find a link to prove it.
Oh, you're right (link).
Thinking back, I'm amazed that I've never got around to taking a toothpaste tube apart. I still think this could be made to work - just not by me, obviously.-- wagster, Jul 15 2005 No unfortunatly [fishrat] the paste would only come out the brislte end of the toothbrush, the other end would be blocked off like the end of any other toothbrushes. The squeezable part of the brush [nelip] would be soft enough for kids to squeeze it. - also - If the boys want to go for the fairies and the girls want to go for the wizards, that's fine by me, but yes, for the fact of being lazy I thought i'd go for the stereotypical way of things (",). I've also been waiting for the pixies in the garden [skinflaps] but for some reason they run and hide when I come a runnin.-- gorjabuble, Jul 15 2005 You need to leave hula hoops out for them every night.-- wagster, Jul 15 2005 [Of course the child isn't to know that. He / she would just think that he / she is being magic and creating the new colours themselves.] I think you give children too little credit, also, there would have to be some kind of stopper, preventing too much toothpaste getting out as the child has to grip the brush all the way through cleaning rather than once at the beginning.-- fridge duck, Jul 16 2005 You Fudruckers! You frightened the fork out of me with the "do you know how striped toothpaste comes about crap". My bloody Xb can change the colour of lights for the frickin' cupholder on the click of a button w/ about 6 to 8 variations in colour. I imagine a toothbrush could do the same. If the toothpaste were white & just lit up by an ever changing clickable light this would seem to work for me. At least, thanks for verifying my intuition as to how multi-striped toothpaste is birthed. On this site when I saw the link in conjunction with this idea, The Fear crept into my mind.-- Zimmy, Jul 16 2005 [gorjabuble] OK, so the paste and bristles are at the same end of the brush, but now I'm wondering how the kid will fit the brush into their mouth, if the paste dispenser is so close to the bristles?
By the by, being a lazy man, I copied your name from the annos rather than spelling it out, and made my elf giggle when I had to click "paste".-- Fishrat, Jul 16 2005 What's the invention here? If it's toothbrushes with toothpaste in the handle, those are baked and half-baked.
